Strings Program

The KHES after-school strings program was established to provide 5th grade students an additional avenue to study music.  Interested fifth graders can attend twice weekly sessions of instruction following the school day, from 2:30 to 4:00.  Each student is assigned his or her own violin, and the main cost of the program is subsidized by the KHES PTA, so only a nominal cost is incurred. The pilot program began in Spring 2009 of the 2008-09 school year, and met with overwhelming success!  The practices culminated with a strings performance at the 5th grade graduation.  The PTA is considering establishing an autumn program.  If you or your student would be interested in becoming involved with the KHES strings program, please contact Michael O'Dell at khspta@dare.k12.nc.us.
